for the Golden Jubilee Mass at St. John of God,
Poonamalee, Chennai on Sunday 25th September 2005,
by Holy Family Junior Sisters (Prepared by Sr. Glory).
Dear brothers and sisters,
“What thanks can I render Thee, for the gifts thou has showered on me”
These words of the psalmist, spring forth from the heart of Sr. Helen
and all of us today, as we have gathered to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of her Religious life in the Holy Family of Bordeaux. We praise and thank God
for his faithfulness and unconditional love extended to our dear Sr. Helen throughout the past 50 years of her authentic Holy
Family life and dedicated services rendered in the lands of Sri Lanka and India. As Sr. Helen gratefully
recalls the wonders God has worked in and through her, especially to our delegation, we too with love and gratitude appreciate
all that she has done as the first leader of our Delegation, gradually leading in its growth and expansion. We make a very
special mention about her care and concern expressed towards the young in accompanying them in the Holy Family way of living.
Following Jesus who went about doing good, Helen’s life has been an
example of doing good to all. “God loves a cheerful giver”. It is worth mentioning Sr. Helen’s love for
the poor, the needy, the unwanted and marginalized. We appreciate the trouble she took to reach out and bring consolation
and life to them.
On this day we also extend our heart-felt felicitations to her parents, brothers
and sisters. They have generously made the sacrifice of offering their daughter-sister to God’s service.
We have another special purpose to thank God today. Our dear Sr.
Margaret- our Superior General and her Councillors Francoise, Hyacintha and Winifreda have been with us for the past 2 weeks,
guiding, animating and walking with us, in our life and mission. As Srs. Margaret and Francoise are leaving back to Rome tomorrow we extend our
heartfelt gratitude, affection and loyalty to them.
There is no better way to give thanks to God, than celebrating the Eucharist.
Let us enter into this Holy Mass and pray for one another.
