Glorious
Saint Joseph, model of all who are devoted to labor, obtain for me the grace to work in the spirit of penance in expiation
of my many sins; to work conscientiously by placing love of duty above my inclinations; to gratefully and joyously deem it
an honor to employ and to develop by labor the gifts I have received from God, to work methodically, peacefully, and in moderation
and patience, without ever shrinking from it through weariness or difficulty to work; above all, with purity of intention
and unselfishness, having unceasingly before my eyes death and the account I have to render of time lost, talents unused,
good not done, and vain complacency in success, so baneful to the work of God. All for Jesus, all for Mary, all to imitate
thee, O patriarch Saint Joseph! This shall be my motto for life and eternity. - Pope Saint Pius X (1835-1914)

Solemnity of St. Joseph, Husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary The Catholic faithful honors the Solemnity of St. Joseph, Husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary on
March 19.
St.
Joseph is one of the most important Saint sin the Catholic Church, second to the Blessed
Mother. Being the foster-father of Jesus, St Joseph’s important mission in God's plan of salvation was to legally insert Jesus Christ into the line of David.
About him Sacred Scripture has little more to say than that he was a just man-an expression which
indicates how faithfully he fulfilled his high trust of protecting and guarding God's greatest treasures upon earth, Jesus
and Mary. No words of his are recorded in the Gospels and most of our information about St.
Joseph only comes from the opening two chapters of St. Matthew's Gospel.
St Joseph was the "silent"
man. He was faithful, patient man, obedient to the demands of God and willingly accepted the hardships. St. Matthew calls
him "a just man", illustrated by his loyalty in protecting and providing for his family. In 1870, Pius IX declared
him patron and protector of the universal family of the Church.
