Wedding
of dear Fidelis PRASHANTH & Josephine MARY GAMINI on July 3rd 2011 at St. Jude’s Church, Tuticorin.
We thank each and every one who participated the wedding and reception and specially who
prayed and offered Mass and Rosary for the couple.
By God’s grace, wedding and receptions were very grand and memorable and I must say
it was a historical one. Everything was well organized by dear Charlotte and Jerome with full support and blessings from brothers
and sisters and relatives and friends. By God’s grace Stella Akka and Albin Athan’s 8 children and grand
children from Canada and Sr. Fatima from Peru actively and unitedly worked as a team in all the celebrations.
The Wedding Mass
was solemnized by His Grace, Archbishop of Madurai Most Rev. Peter Fernando and concelebrated by 13 priests including Fr.
Oswald Villavarayen, Fr. Jerosin and Fr. Xavier Marian. Fr. Jerosin gave an introduction of the family and the couple.
The Homily by His Grace, Archbishop was very inspiring. In the wedding Mass hymn book it was printed:
“With these rings we share together, Love so close to last forever. This special day-two special hearts, Nothing will
keep this love apart.”

Choir
was excellent with solo singing and the congregation well participated. Procession hymn was “Ave Maria” song.
Same song was sung by dear Rozita Fernando (daughter of Maureen and Raj Fernando) during Classin and Asha’s wedding and Enoka and Dunston’s wedding Mass (daughter of Cynthia
and Thamby Fernandez) in Colombo. Attesting
witnesses were: Auditor Thomas Fernando and Justin A. Kattar.
Mr. K. Aloysius (eldest
maternal uncle of Charlotte) and Mrs. Jacintha Aloysius from Colombo were well represented by dear Geoff and Nimmi. Prashanth’s
Godparents: Sr. M. Anaclet (was well represented by
Sr. Helen from Holy Family Convent, Kalliyakavalai) and Albin Kattar Felcy Kattar, Ryan (son of Goldwyn and Antoinette) and Nitin
(son of Deric and Shanthi) were the MC at Reception at Alagar Mahal (Wedding hall. 2 mts walk from Stella akka Albin Athan’s
house “Carmel Cottage”, 124, V. E. Road and opposite to DSF hotel in Tuticorin where all Canadian grand
nephews and Noble and we stayed together with Sr. Helen akka, Geoff and Nimmi and Capt. J.N. Miranda and Parimala from Chennai.
Fr. Jerosin and Sr. Fatima said the prayers before meals at the functions.
Dear Geoff said few words for the newly wedded couple. Noble (eldest
son of Stella akka and Albin Athan) proposed the toast and said “Prashanth’s wedding was the first wedding in
their home “Carmel Cottage” etc. Nevil Kattar spoke very well about strong relationship of grand and great grand
parents of Prashanth, reputed founders of M/s. S.O.Rodrigo, parents of Dr. Augustine, and Albin Athan and brothers and
sisters etc.
All grand nephews, nephews, and Geoff joined the famous “Yam
sing” Singapore style, sung only at weddings in Singapore.
All enjoyed
an unforgettable “Home coming” party at “Stella Maris” for first time after its renovation/restoration
on the 4th July. 4th of July was the happy feast day of St. Elizabeth of Hungary and America’s Independence
Anniversary. We were lucky, Ma/big sister Mrs. Elizabeth was present in “Stella Maris” for about an hour. Elizabeth
akka gave her blessings to the newly wedded couple. All
nephews and grandnephews were presented with a specially made “T” shirt with logo of “Stella Maris”
and they wore it for the function. First time in history of “Stella Maris” we had dancing session on the lawn.
In the Photo gallery in SM there was a special painting of T.P.S. Kattar and Maria Soosey Rodrigo and TPS family tree,
grand father late Mr. Gaspar Rodrigo and all these pictures are of special significance speak its value.
Dear Saji read so nicely and clearly the article of Mrs. Stella A. Kattar about her
parents from the TPS family book “Memorare” 1994. We all sang “Te Deum” latin song in honour
of the couple.
One incident we witnessed that touched our heart was that after the wedding that
evening when we had dinner with Sr. Fatima and Sr. Helen at DSF, it was almost midnight. We including Capt. J.N. Miranda and
Parimala all walked together from DSF to leave Sr. Fatima safely at “Carmel Cottage”, we saw all of Stella akka
family members kneeling saying prayers with outstretched hands for 5 Our Fathers remembering the 5 wounds of the Lord, after
reciting the Rosary and Litany. They said, they had been saying this every evening during their parents time and they still
continue same. I told them, the grand success of the wedding was because of their unity, harmony and love in the family
and prayers with arms stretched by all family members.
Praise the Lord.
